Some kids are born with a silver spoon in their mouth.
Vera came into the world with a book in one hand and a notebook in the other.
She started writing short stories about animals the moment she could hold a pencil. Over the years she moved through horror, adventure, fantasy, and new adult until she found the place that feels like home: love stories in small mountain towns where everyone knows everyone else's business, especially the main characters'.
Before writing full time, she studied biology and specialized in microbiology. She dreamed of joining the CDC and handling deadly viruses, like the heroine of Outbreak by Robin Cook. Reality took her down less dangerous paths—oncology, clinical trials, the pharmaceutical industry—though her notebook always found its way back into her hands.
She lives in the mountains with her husband and her two feline babies, Leah and Gara. The same landscapes that appear in her books can be seen from the windows of her home. When she's not writing, you'll find her reading, renovating some corner of the house, or figuring out the most efficient way to get anything done.
